    Sorjosen tarinan piti oikeastaan olla jo ohi. Pääkäsikirjoittaja Miikko Oikkosella oli ollut alusta saakka mielessään kolmen kauden mittainen kaari sarjan päähenkilöille. Kun tämä tarina oli kerrottu, sarja tuntui valmiilta.

    Sorjonen oli kuitenkin kerännyt kolmen kautensa aikana omistautuneen kansainvälisen fanikunnan, joka pommitti jatkotoiveillaan niin Yleä, tuotantoyhtiö Fisher Kingiä kuin sarjan kansainvälistä jakelijaa Netflixiäkin.

    ”Helmikuussa tapasimme Netflixin edustajia Berliinin elokuvafestivaaleilla, ja he toivoivat kovasti, että Sorjonen saisi vielä tavalla tai toisella jatkoa”, Miikko Oikkonen kertoo.

    Oikkosen mielessä oli aiemmin hautunut ajatus, miten ja missä muodossa Kari Sorjosen tarina saattaisi jatkua. Hän esitteli ideansa Netflixin edustajille yhdessä Sorjosen tuottajien Matti Halosen ja Johannes Lassilan kanssa. Asiat etenivät vauhdikkaasti.

    Jo festivaaliviikon aikana sekä Netflix että Yle näyttivät hankkeelle vihreää valoa. Seuraavana syksynä, puolisen vuotta Berliinissä käytyjen keskustelujen jälkeen, työryhmä kokoontui kuvaamaan Sorjonen – Muraalimurhat -elokuvaa ja -minisarjaa.
