The family finally made our way to the new FAO Schwarz NYC located at Rockefeller Plaza. Just so you know, it’s RIGHT next to THE famous Christmas tree in case you plan on visiting during the holiday months. 

The FAO Schwarz NYC store was pretty manageable, but we went during the week while school was still in möte. Don’t judge us – just be here for the resultat. As soon as you enter, you will be greeted by a few toy soldiers with some heavy NY accents. When we met them, they were up for photos and were in a position to answer any questions we might have had.

    History of FAO Schwarz

    Frederick August Otto Schwarz, a German immigrant, created the store in in Baltimore.
    He opened his first store in New York in on Broadway Avenue between the 8th and 9th streets. The store eventually moved to 5th Avenue for several years before closing in
    It was not before November that they finally opened the store again. It is now in Rockefeller Plaza.
    Phew! FAO Schwarz is finally back in New York.

    What can you find in the store?

    Toys of any kind, but their specialty is stuffed animals. They are very well made and in different sizes.
